Google Photos Screensaver is still fantastic. Since they’ve started focusing more on their profitable products (right move, imho), it’s unlikely that we’ll see bugs like this get fixed. Its is using the processing power of the iPad itself to stream from the iPad to TV. The latter definitely will end up in a lower resolution. Tabcasting - Sending content from Photos (device, tablet, computer) to a device (TV). Sadly, Google has known about this bug for almost 3 year now and it’s still not fixed. Chromecast - Sending content from Google Photos (Google Servers) to a device TV. Not a big deal for me since I’m used to using the “Window+L” keys to lock my machine.
This sucks if you like to have your machine auto-locked when the screensaver kicks in. However, the only themes you can choose from now are the ones already integrated into Roku OS. The solution is to uncheck that the “On resume…” box. You can use your family photos or anything you like to make a slide show. Why? Because of the “On resume, display logon screen” option: It will cause screen flickering and not show any of the images you asked for! A scheduler to control when the screensaver, display, and computer should remain.
